1. Driving License Requirements The most common question we get at Dejavu Car Rental is: “Can I drive with my home country’s license?” The good news is that if you hold a passport and driving license from major countries like the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, EU countries (Germany, France, Italy, etc.), and GCC countries, you do not need an International Driving Permit (IDP). You can drive using your original license.
However, if your license is issued from a country not on the approved RTA list, you must present both your national license and a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) when picking up your car.
2. Documents You Need To pick up your car at our Business Bay office or have it delivered to your hotel, please have the following ready:

3. Understanding the Deposit Like all rental agencies in the UAE, a security deposit is required to cover potential traffic fines or Salik (toll) charges that might appear after you return the car. At Dejavu, we ensure transparency. The deposit typically ranges from AED 1,000 to AED 5,000 depending on the car category. This amount is fully refundable and is returned to you within 21–30 days after the vehicle is returned.
