📋 Accepted Driving Licenses in the UAE

For Tourists

If you’re visiting the UAE as a tourist, you can drive and rent a car with your home country license if it was issued from one of the following countries:

✅ If your country is on this list, you can drive in the UAE using your original driving license (no need for an International Driving Permit).
Always carry your passport and entry visa with you when driving.

For Other Countries

If your driving license is not issued from one of the countries listed above, you will need to carry:

• Your national driving license, and
• A valid International Driving Permit (IDP).

🪪 Both documents must be presented together when renting or driving in the UAE.

For UAE Residents

If you hold a UAE residence visa, your foreign license is no longer valid for driving in the UAE. You must:

• Convert your home license to a UAE driving license (if eligible), or
• Apply for a UAE driving test through RTA.
